More often than not it’s been suggested that I should be sharing the inner workings of the CRMC brand, a blog featuring various online content showing the creative process, as well as the day-to-day business happenings running this particular alternative clothing brand.
As someone who is far more comfortable designing than writing, I always strayed away from the idea; but what is life if we don’t step out of our comfort zones once in awhile, right?
CRMC was the vision from ex-colleague, Hrafn & myself back in late 2012, merging both of our passions for fashion, art & design and socio-political views. Sadly, over the last year, Hrafn has had to take a step back from the brand due to personal commitments, although his input is always welcomed & when the time is right, there will always be a space for him on the Corvid throne. I’m not going to step into the cliché of telling you “the past four years have been a rollercoaster” - this is business, and business is an arduous mistress, there’s no denying that. I’ve worked relentlessly to get to where CRMC stands today and continue to learn everyday; much of which was learnt the hard way. However, as He-Man said in episode one of the classic 80’s cartoon - “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”. Don’t take that the wrong way though, I love what I do and I am blessed to wake up every day and do the thing I love, while remaining modest, humble and true to the core values of this brand.
The positive to working myself to the bone, is that 2016 saw CRMC more than triple its sales from 2015… I literally had to double-check this with my accountants; I was blown away. I am now in the position to hire additional hands and will be able to spend more time and finances this year pushing the brand worldwide.
When I thought about what I wanted this blog to be about, it became clear that, rather than try create stuff that I hope you guys will like – I should just be myself and, as I do with the brand/designs, project a mirror of my personality.
So, over the coming weeks, months, years, I aim for this to be an honest account of the CRMC brand. I hope to document the brand and its growth in real time, sharing with you what exactly running a brand such as CRMC entails – the ups and the downs.
Please be patient as we test the waters with this blog and its contents, and thank you in advance for your continued support and encouragement – you guys, our Corvid Familia, are the blood that runs through CRMC’s veins.
Big love as always,
